As you know, our beautiful streams in Tennessee have been overrun with kayak and canoe operations, diminishing the enjoyable experience we all so deeply desire for ourselves and our family.

You’ve been with us as we helped craft and get passed a law in 2018 to allow the TWRA to make rules for these operators. We represented your voice during TWRA’s public process in 2019 to shape those rules. You fought with us as the commercial operators tried to undo the laws in 2019 and 2020.

Finally, these operators are being held to basic safety standards and TWRA is collecting data on how many trips are being taken.

Now, we are looking to the next step to protect what we all hold so dear.

The long-term and sustainable solution to these problems is to develop river-specific recreational use management plans that protect the health and quality of our rivers—and allow all river users to enjoy and share our public waters.

But to do that, we ask that you send in pictures and videos. Loads and loads of pictures and videos showing us exactly what you’re seeing so that we can further share your voice.

You can upload your materials right here.

And once you’ve done that, ask your friends to do the same.

Together, we’ll find a way to better share our rivers.
